Your Guide to Happy Hour at St. Roch Market

← Back to News

If you're looking for the best happy hour in New Orleans — and you're the kind of person who thinks a dollar oyster is a beautiful thing — you should know about what happens at St. Roch Market every weekday from 3 to 5 pm.

The Deals

Happy hour at St. Roch Market runs Monday through Friday, 3 pm to 5 pm, at Roch's Reprieve (the market's full bar) and Salted Pearl Oyster Bar. Here's what you're getting:

$1 raw oysters at Salted Pearl. Fresh Gulf oysters, shucked to order. These are the real deal — briny, cold, and served on the half shell with mignonette, cocktail sauce, and lemon. At a dollar each, there's no better oyster deal in the city.

$4 drafts at Roch's Reprieve. PBR and Paradise Park on tap. Cold, cheap, and exactly what you want with a plate of oysters.

$7 house wines and cocktails. The bartender's cocktail of the day changes regularly — it's always worth asking what's in the mix. House wines rotate too, with selections curated in collaboration with Olive & Co.

Why It Works

Most happy hours in New Orleans are fine. Decent drink specials at a bar. What makes this one different is the setting. St. Roch Market is a 150-year-old building with soaring ceilings, natural light pouring through the windows, and cast iron columns from 1861. You're not sitting in a dark bar at 3 pm — you're in a beautiful, open food hall where you can also grab a Cuban sandwich from Aritza's Kitchen, a poke bowl from Lin's, or a charcuterie board from Olive & Co while you're at it.

It's also a neighborhood spot. The crowd at 3 pm on a Tuesday isn't tourists — it's people who live in St. Roch, Marigny, and Bywater stopping in after work or between errands. That's the energy. Low-key, friendly, and genuinely local.

Getting There

St. Roch Market is at 2381 St. Claude Ave, on the corner of St. Roch Avenue and St. Claude Avenue. Street parking is available on both streets and surrounding blocks. If you're biking, there's a rack right out front. The market is also on the RTA bus line (St. Claude / Rampart streetcar line).

Happy hour runs every weekday. No reservations needed. Just walk in, grab a seat at the bar or one of the communal tables, and let the bartender take care of the rest.
